No need to introduce this one! Woodford Reserve is one of the best-selling bourbons in the world and is a genuine Kentucky staple. This distillery offers comfortable tour & tasting experiences through a historic property, all in the picturesque thoroughbred region of KY.
Castle & Key Distillery
A gem of a distillery stop. This once-abandoned 19th century distillery is known as the birthplace of bourbon hospitality, and it’s a castle! C&K is known for its friendly and welcoming campus, complete with flowing water, nature, and more!
Buffalo Trace Distillery
The distillery that is on everyone’s bucket list! Buffalo Trace is the longest continuously operating distillery in the US. It’s home to a treasure trove of great whiskey, from Weller, to Blantons, to the flagship Buffalo Trace bourbons.
Wild Turkey Distillery
If you don’t love Wild Turkey, you’re just wrong. This long-time industry standard and workhorse of a bourbon is made in Lawrenceburg, high atop the Kentucky River valley. WT is known for having an authentic blue collar tour, its classic, high-quality bourbons, & more!
Four Roses Distillery
A bourbon lover’s paradise. With its 10 bourbon recipes and well-known flagship products, Four Roses is an excellent stop for a bourbon nerd. This distillery is unique and also has a large, welcoming bar. Four Roses is a solid stop!
Bulleit Distillery
A “newy but goodie” distillery. Bulleit bourbon is an iconic Kentucky bourbon with a newer state-of-the art distillery. The distillery has a lovely bar, thoughtful tastings, and solid tour that focuses on bourbon production. We’re big fans of this one!

Very rarely do we hear that this wasn’t the favorite stop of the day. This distillery is literally off the beaten path. And while some distilleries offer a “post-card” kind of experience, here you drink bourbon… out of a barrel, on a farm, with folks from all walks of life. That’s Kentucky.

Frankfort Bourbon Tour FAQs & Additional Info
Do You Need a Reservation to Visit a Frankfort Distillery?
Nope! Each distillery in the Frankfort area has a gift shop, campus, and usually a bar you can visit. So, if you're unable to do a tour, you can still at least do those. If you want to see distilling happen or go behind the scenes, then you would need to book your experience in advance. Some distilleries are better to visit than others without a tour, so be sure to ask us for our recommendations!
Where to Stay for a Frankfort Bourbon Tour?
We really like the St Claire. If you're traveling with a group, consider one of the many airbnbs around the region! You'll find some chain hotels out in the strip area, and a few boutique spots if that's your style. A lot of our guests visiting Frankfort Distilleries stay in Louisville due to its accessibility, nightlife, and accommodations. But, there are some good evening drinks, entertainment, and dining options in Frankfort if you choose to stay!
What Are Some Other Must-Do Experience in the Frankfort Area?
Frankfort is the capital, so if you're a history buff, be sure to check out the capital museums! It's easy to spend a full day there. And if you have seen bourbon balls and chocolates on some of the various Frankfort bourbon tours, be sure to check out Rebecca Ruth's Candy for a tour. Other than that, there are some neat parks, including hope spring park, Daniel Boone's gravesite, a historic downtown. You could paddle the Kentucky River... lots of stuff to do!
How Many Distilleries Can I visit in a day?
Challenge accepted! When you book with us, we will have you out from the time the distilleries open, until they close. While some Frankfort Bourbon tour companies will take you to 2-3 and call it a day, we will always fill out your day if there's time. Also, if you book one of our distillery hopping days, we will visit every distillery you can cram in during the day! At your group's desired pace, of course.
What are the Pickup Options?
We offer free pickup and drop-off in the Louisville and Frankfort areas for a Frankfort bourbon tour day. Since we are based out of Louisville, pickup in Bardstown or the Lexington areas could potentially have a milage and hourly surcharge. Please reach out to discuss your options.
