About Woodford Reserve Distillery Tours
When a lot of people think of bourbon, or even Kentucky itself, they often think of Woodford Reserve. For the last 29 years, Woodford has made a name for itself with its large distribution network, involvement with the Kentucky Derby, and quality products. With its ties to local history, breathtaking scenery, and well-curated experiences, we think that the Woodford Reserve Distillery tour is one of the best the state has to offer!
On our off-days, our team loves to visit this property to grab a double oak old fashioned, to hang on the porch, or to bring guests along on one of the Woodford Reserve tours. The views driving in boast dry-laid limestone fences, world-class thoroughbred farms, rolling hills, and more. It’s all quite nice!

What we love
The Breathtaking Location
This area of Kentucky is seriously gorgeous. Some of the best real-estate in the entire commonwealth is surrounding Woodford, and the area is known for some of the best thoroughbred breeding in America. Over 20 Breeder’s Cup winners are from Woodford County, as well as 2 Triple Crown Winners. The horse farms are breathtaking with miles of black and white fences surrounding them. You also see flowing creeks, limestone fences, corn, tobacco, and a number of other features unique to the region.

Over 150 Years of History
Woodford Reserve has the rare (1-of-3) distinction that its grounds are a National Historic Landmark. And while the Woodford brand itself has only been around for about 30 years, there is over 200 years of distilling history on the property. On the Woodford Reserve Tour, you will walk through buildings that are from the 1830s and beyond. Its parent company, Brown Forman, has also been producing bourbon for over 150 years, and even produced through prohibition. There is a ton of history here, which you can start diving into on a Woodford Reserve tour!

The flagship Woodford Reserve tour, as well as the other distillery experiences are all expertly curated. Each offers a unique perspective on bourbon, a well-led tasting, and a wealth of knowledge about whiskey that you get to take home with you. On the Flagship “Path to Flavor” tour at Woodford, you get to walk through 200 years of distillery history while seeing what makes the Woodford products unique. In addition, there are speciality tours that dive into specific aspects of making bourbon, maturation, and more! In short, the Woodford Reserve tour is one of the best on the bourbon trail.

The Whiskey Lineup
Nearly every bourbon drinker is familiar with Woodford’s classic bourbon, and many are familiar with Woodford Double-Oak, but there is a lot more going on here! Over the past several years, Woodford has put out a variety of experimental products, such as finished bourbons, a 139 proof whiskey, its Master Collection, and much more. On the flagship tour and tasting, you will get to try multiple whiskey mashes, including a rye, malt, and wheat. So from new standards to annual releases, you can try a lot of great whiskey here - and there’s something for everyone!
